Students began taking classes in the Biological Sciences Building in 1975. The core curriculum for biology majors includes a background in chemical, mathematical and physical sciences. Our laboratories are committed to training undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scientists. In addition to an excellent preparation for post graduate education (e.g. medical, veterinary, dental or graduate school), biology majors are well equipped for a large number of academic, professional, and industrial jobs ranging from bio-engineer and nursing and chemical oceanographer to marine ecologist and pharmacist. In or nearby this facility is the Bug Closet, Arboretum and Biology Field Research Center.
