President Charles Millican dedicated the Education Building on January 15, 1977. Then, there was significant emphasis on its use as an athletic facility for intercollegiate competition, despite the gymnasium covering just 17,235 of 112,000 total square feet. Today, the educational complex is home to the College of Education and Human Performance and its two newer facilities – Teaching Academy and Morgridge International Reading Center. Other organizations that use the facility are the Department of Child, Family and Community Sciences, the Community Counseling Clinic, the Department of Educational and Human Sciences, the School of Teaching, Learning and Leadership and the Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute.
